Kashan Rugs

Kashan is an Iranian town which is at a four hour drive from Tehran. Antique Kashan rugs and carpets have always been popular because of their lovely curvature patterns. They are distinctive because of a single central medallion and Persian floral motifs. Some of the floral motifs used are palmettos, blossom and leaf, rosettes, arabesques and flower-stems. Kashan carpets are quite gorgeous and generally are designed with ivory, light green and red colors. They are made with soft wool as well as thin, tight piles. The foundations of the Kashan carpets are made with cotton, and sometimes, with pure silk. Kashan rugs have Persian knots and the weave is exceptionally fine.
