Tabriz Rugs
Antique Tabriz rugs are distinguished by an excellent weave and unique colors like burnt orange, persimmon, light blue and green. These rugs are made in and around the city of Tabriz in northwest Persia. Tabriz has been the most prominent producer of Persian rugs since the 16th century. Tabriz has also had the world’s biggest weaving community in the 19th century. Rug production in Tabriz declined for the while towards the later part of the 19th century, but went through a strong period of revival, and since then, Tabriz has never looked back.
